Dear sister
In haste I take my pen to wright you a few lines to let you know what we are doing and how we are engoying our selfs we are all well at presant but I have to go on Gard in a few minutes the Pay master is here and will pay some of us on Monday next there is 2 of the Reg gon from this plase they crosed at the Long bridg to go to fight we have not got our new guns yet but expect to get them as soon as we get our mony Gorge McGahy and Lieut Cennedy and Bill List sends ther best respects to all the famly and all who knew how sends there respects to him when you wright tell me all about how you get along in the Borow with out the boys that came away and give me the particklers about the 13 Regment and how they like to be sogers and if there is eny of the boys that is going back tell me who they are
you ask a faver of me when you ask me not to take a chew I have resolved to not take the least bite of tobaco and you can rest assured that I like to be a soger it is hard work but I have sood it so far better then eny of the rest in the compny it was hard to sleep on the ground at first we had not tents to sleep in when we was at Camp Curton we had to sleep on the ground and had nothing to cover us at first but we got blankets and our uniform the morning we started for washington which is one coat and 2 pare of pants 2 pare of draws and one shirt one pare of stockings and one cap with one napsack one cartrage box one cantene haver sack and one pare of shoes and one tent for 5 of we I have wrote so often that I have run out of news and you must send me some as soon as you get this I will hunt some more news on mondy I will anser all letters that I get after this for I have nothing to do
I was very glad to here that you was all glad that I had enlisted if I live to the first of January I will be home to see you the capton said that we wold get home 10 days out of 3 months I do not want eny thing now from home but my Bibel I was very thankfull for those things that I recived I was not expecting them when I got them tell me whether how is gon home and all about Ed and bob Lyon I have to go on gard at 10 oclock and be 2 hours on and two hours of all day and night so I must close we have prayr meeting evry night and we have the best minister in the service he is a presbitiron and a better one than Mr Lee I like him better Wright as soon as you get this tell all to wright and do not forget yourself
