            Dear Sister
                                    I recived your welcom letter on the night of the 18 and was glad to here that you are all well I am still well and getting further away from home we got orders yesterday to move where we did not know we started about 5 in the morning and got to our new camp about noon we com 8 miles we come slow for we had to send out scouts ahead to see if the enimy was strong they retreted ahead of our divison. It raned all day and cleared up at night I have been on guard ever since we come and am prety well don out but I will be releved at 5 oclock to night and will not have eny more guard duty to proform for 2 days we have not got our tents along / nor will not have them for a while they cant get wagons to bring them we are camped on the top of a hill by side a turnip pach the boys enjoy them selfs very well Banks crossed the river last night and will move on as soon as he can get redy we have now got our camp on the hill that the Rebels sheld us from when we wer at the falls there will be some move made now I think for we still keep close to the enimy well I have told you about all the news we have got so far away from home and so far from the post office that we will not get many more letters but still rite we will not get them now more than onced a week but I will rite evry time that I get time in this letter I will send you a clover evry plase we go I will send you some little thing / these moon light nights when I am on guard I wish that I was at home for a day or a hour I cold enjoy myself If we have good luck this winter when we get in our quarters I will get a furlow to go home for a few days by the way that things look out here I think that we will not get home short of 3 years I do not expect to see home for at least 3 years the Rebels have got all of the plases enforsed as they go along but if I live to go home I will still hope to see you all well time is at hand when I must go to guard write evry day I will rite often as I can direct your letter the same as be for give my love to all of the butler folks and to all of the Boro friends and write soon till then I still remain your
