Dear Sir it is with pleasure I seat myself to answer your letter of the 7 whitch I recieved tonight and in answer i must tell you that your Son never has had an hour ill health since he enlisted with me on the contrary he is improving every day he told me today that he would soon be as heavy as I was he weighs one hundred and sixty pounds so you can see that he is not faling mutch you can rest contented that if he gets unwell I will take as good care of him as if he was my Brother and if he ever gets unwell or disabled I will let you know as to his needing Monney or incuring anney expenses I have / plenty for him or anney of my boys that need it but Add is carefull of his Monney he gave it to me to keep for him when we was payed of and I gave it to him as he wanted it We are comfortable here and have plenty of every thing furnished by the US Government and are payed every two months I supose Add gives you all the news he is often writing home so he tells me and I have read a number of your letters to him he is a boy that has had a Mothers watchfull care it dont take long to find that out here You can well feel proud of him I am shure I feel proud of him as a member of my Company I have nothing more to write that would be / interesting to you the health of the troups is not so good as it has been I lost one of my men on the sixt of this month he had been unwell for some time past the rest of the Company is in good health with the exceptions of three and thay are not dangerous I am afrad I may tire you with my long letter so i will finish by sending my best respects to you and your Family
