Dear sister your most welcome letter was received with plesure and I now sit down to answer it we had a grand review this after noon the Flag of each Regt in the 3d brigade was taken to washington city and had trains with Dec the 21st 1861 we that is the 2nd and 1st brigades wer taken out to witness the seen and of all the times we have had yet it went ahead / for the mud was 6 in deep and we went around the whole ground and come home all mudy and wet the wether here has been very bad for the last week or so till today it is very mudy it is hard for the sick but they are not so meny as there was some few days ago I have got well again and feel as well as ever I did
 
News are so scarse here that I cold not find eny thing to write about yesterday. in one of Pas letters he sayed that he had mailed 2 letters at the Lawrenceville PO I never got them I get the Murcury evry week and all your letters I will not write more than 3 times a week with out I find more to write about I have quit writing / to so meny as I did for a while it cost me about 7 dollars last month. evry letter cost me 6 cents in an avrage I have got to pay 1 cent for my paper and one for the envelope and 2 for the stamp and have to pay the post master and so much investing dose not do me eny good I have sent away as high as 11 letters at a time this will soon amount to a large sum of money I will try to send more home after this now I do not want you to think that I am scolding about having to write for I am not I love to write home but I will not write to so meny I will close hoping to here from you soon I will close
