Elizabeth Christiancy (maiden name: McClosky) was born on October 22, 1821, in Michigan, probably to Susan McClosky. She married Isaac P. Christiancy on November 16, 1839, and they had at least nine children: Henry Clay, born around 1842; James, born around 1844; Mary, born around 1846; William, born around 1848; Caroline, born around 1850; Benjamin, born around 1852; Victor, born around 1854; John, born around 1856; and George, born around 1863. They lived in Monroe, Michigan, and her husband worked as a lawyer and politician. By 1850, they owned $8,000 of real estate. Two decades later, they owned $30,000 of real estate and $11,000 of personal property. She died in Lansing, Michigan, on December 12, 1874, “after a lingering illness of several years.”
