Dear Father Mother Sisters and brother at this late hower i sit down to write to you to let you know that i am a great deal better than when i was at home i have been sent to the Division Ospital i came here last monday that was the day the Reg mooved in fact the whole armie mooved there was about 150.000 thousand soldiers on a march with about 1200 pieces of artilery and about 50 000 Cavelry so you can guess there will be some thing done in a few days there has for the last 4 days been a very / heavey cannonading but this after noon it has stoped there was 3 men came in to the Ospital that had been wounded in the fore finger they say that the boys are fighting like everything we have had orders to prepair for the wounded to day so i must hurry and write so as to put up tents for them when they come there is thre ospitals here there is about 1200 sick that is are not able to march some have sore feet some have sore fingers so they cannot handle a gun there is but very few that are so they are confined to their bed there is a hundred or more that is going to their Reg tomorrow / i was left behind on account of the phthisic i do not know what will be done with me as yet i shall write to you in a few days again and let you know i have no cough now but i think it is on account of the weather being so warm it has left me my horseness has left me in a great measure and in a short time i shall be well as i ever was in my life i have not heard from Sam since the Reg left but i think i shall in a day or two when i do i will write and let you know all the particulars the 11:12: & 3 armie Corps has taken 800 prisners and have had but little / loss as yet but i have not heard any nuse to be relied on as yet ower troops lay in Fredricks burg on friday and Saturday i believe i have given you all the nuse
 
PS Jeremiah O Mead is in the Ospital also John Hays. Waren hoyts son from Ridgefield Jerry Mead sayes he is my cusin we are getting along fine here Jerry sends his best respects to you all give my love to all. Good by for this time.
