Washington July 25th
 
Dear Father Mother Sisters & Brothers as i have got setled i will try and write a few lines to you to let you know my where abouts i wrote to you i believe just before i left the Reg or else the night i stoped at fredrick i am not sure but at any rate i left the reg the 18th was caried to Frederick City Md. in an ambulance stoped to the Hospt over night started on the cars sunday morning at 8 Oclock and rode 60 miles arived in Baltimore sunday eavening at 6 Oclock went to the Union Releif Assosiation and had ower supper then the Massachusets agent took us to his / own house and keped us over night in the morning we went to the Union Releif Assosiat and got breakfast then we went to the Jarvis Hospital and took dinner then we went to Wests Buildings Hospital and stayed Monday night also untill Thursday then at noon we had orders to get ready to moove and at one oclock we were on board the propeller Philadelphia 301 of us and she shoved off and after we started the doctor on board told us that we wer on ower way to Washington so all was well. you can imagine whether we wer tired or not when we arived in George town on friday after noon after a ride of over 200 / miles on the water we had a splendid trip though the weather was pleasent and the sea was smooth we sailed out the Chesapeek Bay we run against the blockadeing squadron or rather stoped to let them examine ower papers at ½ past one at night we passed point lookout at 2 Oclock and at 10 Oclock we passed Aquia Creek and at 1 Oclock we passed Mount Vernon at ½ past one we passed Fort Washington at ¼ to 2 Oclock we passed Alexandria and at ¼ past 2 we struck the dock at George Town and we lay there untill the ambulances came then we wer caried direct to Carver Hospital and here i am in Ward 4 
 
we have the best of care and the best of grub and a plenty of it i had boiled potatoes boiled turnips roast mutton soop and bread i eat so mutch i thought i should have to greas my belly and roal in the ashes leaving all joking aside it was a splendid dinner. i shall go through an examination by the board of Doctors in a few days then i will give you a short letter and tell the result you must write and send me some paper and invelops if you have them handy for i have no money just now to get any with there is no more nuse at present.
