Dear Father Mother Sisters & Brothers I now take this opportunity to write a few lines to inform you of the safe arival of your letter and was hapy to hear from you and more so to hear that you wer all in good health and i am also hapy to state that my health is good i have not had a chill since i came back i feal first rate the most of the time for the last two days i have been very busy we have had a large supply of medacin / that is three months supplies and we have to on pack them and place each kind by it selfe and it is no very easy job there is now but 2 sick in Hospt Mrs Porter the Doctors Wife made him a present a few days ago of a girl weighing 14 pounds what do you think if that There is not mutch nuse here. there was a vessel came here day before yesterday and unlodid 100 15 inch shells they weigh 429 lbs each and they are empty yet they are old rattlers i tell you it takes just a barrell of powder to shoot one of them they are to be sent to charleston i believe the rebs call them Gilmores / wagon train. there is no nuse boys comes here so i cannot give you the war nuse this time there has been some hard fiting and ower men caried their point at every attact capturing some artilery and small arms which are now here. the weather has been very nise here for a few days but today we had a little rain but the sun set clear tonight as i can think of no more i will close for this time Good Night all I remain as ever
