Robert S. Stedman to Hester Beaver, 18 July 1865
Laurel Md
July 18th 1865
My dear Hester
Garrie leaves for home to-night and I will send this by him. As I am not certain about Aunt Kates address I think you might have added it to your last letter and then there would have been no mistake. now you see it is all your fault to be kept so long this time without a letter. And I am very glad that the fault for this once is not on my side.
I received Cousin Kates picture for which you will please return my sincere thanks. I have placed / it as directed next to that bashful young man Lieut Seth Hedges; I was as much surprised as pleased on receipt of it as I thought both you and her had forgotten it
We are very buisy making out muster out rolls and will be discharged as soon as they are completed perhaps in two weeks and perhaps it may be a month but at all events it will not be very long.
Garrie will tell you all about all the affairs down here much better than I can write them at present; So with my love to you and kind regards to all your folks I close
Remaining as Ever
Bob
