Horace G. Babcock to Charlotte L. Lasher, 15 January 1864
Bristo. Station. Va. Jan. 15th 1864

Ever. Remembered. Friend. Lottie
Yours of Jan 6th was received in due season for which I am much obliged as I have but few correspondents now I suppose it is owing to my not being more prompt in answering my letters but I am glad that I can claim you as one of my correspondents yet although I have been anything else but prompt in writing to you but enough of this. I was glad to hear that you was well also the rest of the Norwich people. We are as well as usual here. it has been very cold here since New Years which we spent doing duty as we spend the most of our time that way now we dont find much time to play now days I tell you since the Veterans left here. They / wanted me to reenlist but I could not see it. I have endured enough I think I want I want to see some of the Copperheads brought out and made to suffer for their disloyalty. I suppose you have had some pleasant sleigh rides this winter I wish you would take one or two for me as my circumstances will not admit of my doing so. I judge by your letter that you was attending school at Smithport I was not aware of it before you also spoke of getting some photographs taken some time since I really wish you would send me one. no matter if you think it was not taken as good as it should have been it will do. I want to see some one from Norwich once more. I hear from Norwich occasionally though not as often as I did once. you will have to excuse my dull letter as I have / been to work to day and it is getting late in the night. besides I could not write an interesting letter if I had time but I will close hoping you will write soon. this from your Remembered
