Dear brother I received your letter and was glad to hear that you was well we are well at present hoping these few lines will find you ingoying the same blessing we had a weeks vacation and our school commences to morrow again we had not very much of a Chrismas here Mr Simson was marryed a Chrismas to Miss (?)triger Purd Armstrong got a letter from you last night I was very glad to hear that you stood the march so well there is not very many studens here this term Mr Mccarty has not come home yet the boys are all well arround here Mart Riter is here and he has his leg taken off/I must close for this for it time to go to recite no more at present but remaines your affectionate brother untill death
