Deer Sister I have the optunety of writing a few lines to you to let you know that I am well now I am nurseing here to night I was taken to the hospital on the 18th of March Deer Sister I know that you was vary sorrey to here of my being in the hospital I got your hanketchif the 20th and a letter from Cass I have not answerd her letter but I will a few lines in this and you can tell her that I am well. one of our men out of the regement died here at half past one in the night the regement moved late Saterday 26 of March they ar gone a cros / the potomac they ar gone below the chaine brige to Fort [?] I expect to go to the Company vary soon Send your letters to the Company direct your letter to Batery M 2nd Artillery you nedent put no Fort on for I dont no what Fort they ar at give my love to all folks the hospital is a bout a mile from town I am glad that I can write my own letters I wount take one hundred dollars for my writeing what I can do now
