Dear friend
I received your letter a long time ago and have neglected to write to you but you must please to excuse mee and i will try and do better next time but you must not bee mad but continue to write to mee and i will answer them faithful i am well and so is all of the rest of the boys Wee like it hear now wee did not at first but wee have / plentay to eat hear now and that that is good to General McClellan sayes all that is alive shall eat a thanksgivain dinner at home and there will bee fun yet for wee have not onley jest made a start now but will go write strate a head now and not spare one it is our flag or death and it must be our flag and our countray Well you must excuse mee now / for i have got to go on pickate with thee rest of the boys and they air all ready so good buy at preasant from your true friend and Cosen
