Mobile July 7th 43.
Dear Sir
Your favour of the 4th was rec'd this noon but not in time to answer by return mail.
I received a letter from Eliza Ann day before yesterday dated June 24th in which she informed me that they were all in good case Little George was fat as ever and full of mischief Sis was the same. She has sent Levi on a fishing voyage, Mary was at Boston learning a trade. The rest of them were at home. She felt rather anxious about you, said she felt lonesome and was in hopes that you would get home soon
The last I heard from Thomas he was training in Boston on the 17th as third Lieutenant of the most renowned Lynn Rifle Compy. What an aspiring Military Hero he is.
Stoddard has been married since you left. he married an Irish girl by the name of Julia who boarded where he did. I think he has got a good wife. He is now staying with Merchant, where he is engaged for the summer.
I shipped that iron by the Schr mail soon after I received your letter. E. Ann informed me that it had arrived and was sold. I shall stay here all summer, Gandolfo / leaves for the North next week. I shall have charge of his business during his absence. My health is first rate.
I wish you would inform me whether you intend to come out next fall. If you do not I wish you would send me some goods. I think I could dispose of them to advantage and to your satisfaction. Also inform me when you shall sail for Boston, and what kind of luck you have had since you left here.
I wrote a letter to White (who I understood was in N.O. on board the Maringo) & directed it to care of Capt Gray. I wish you would ask him if he has recd it.
Hoping to hear from you soon I remain Respty
