My Dearest Annie
I have finally succeeded in getting away from that most miserable of all wretched places, "Young's Point" and once more getting back to Memphis my health is very poor but I think improving. I can tell better in a day or two when I will write you again. I reached here yesterday at noon and feel very much worn out by the journey. I have the very best of care and evry thing that I could desire except it is your society dear. Were you with me I should be contented and happy. Just as soon as / I see any hope of success I intend to make an effort to resign. Every thing is in confusion now on account of affairs at Vicksburg. When that place is taken Grant will have some established Hd. Qts. and will probably attend to such matters. Write often dear direct to

Please excuse more today as I am very tired.
Do not cease to pray for me
With unceasing love
I am dearest Annie
Ever yours
Geo. Haw
