Dear Cul I have nothing to write to you this morning I have written to you ever chance I have had and this was about every four or five days since I come back and never have got a letter yet nor any of the rest monroe Rob John Willy nor any body else but Jim Colbert and I did not get to read we have been hearing that your father was coming for the last two weeks and he has never landed yet and we have heard that that your father was going to move to Mississippi and we would like to have seen him before he moved we did not know whether / to believe it or not nor dont know yet I think surely some of us will get a letter before long Cul I dont want you to think that I think you never have written to me for I do think you have and never received them this is five I have wrote to you I know and I believe six I want you to write when you have a chance and let me know how you did get this one I am going to send by William Good I think you will get it he has got a discharge and expect to start home in the morning Cul I would like to be at home and help you to eat some ribs and sausage meat but Cul if that were / all i would not mind it I would rather be at home with you and the children and live on dry bread than to live out here two months and be the richest man in southern confederacy
 
Cul i have been out on Regimental Drill I will try to finish my letter I am a little tired my shoulder aches carrying the gun so much in my right hand we have to drill pretty hard well Cul we have just drawed knap sacks and cartridge box I have every thing but a canten I can send your satchel home now if I have any chance no more at present but remains your kind husband
