Romney Dec 7th 1861
Dear Marshall
I write to inform you that I sent off twenty dollars to you this morning which will be expressed to you by Adams & Co. I think it will be there in four or five days please write and let me know if that other money is received yet do not send my things out till you get it. tell me if you received my last letter which contained my order.
We are all right. all quiet yet. Howes Battery (regulars) came here two days ago. More infantry (Indianians) are coming we are throwing up some intrenchments. I am well again I write this in haste as the mail closes in another hour. hoping that you are very well. I will close by sending to all

by the address on the papers he sends me Mr Preston thinks that the Regt is again in Romney but we have not been there since January 10th. We started to go there and catch Jackson but he give us the slip and we had to turn back. Romney is of no use to us now, or the secesh as the bridges around it are all burned or blown up cutting off all communication /
