Dear Cosin
                        I take the opertunity of writing you a few lines to let you know that I am as well as common The times her is good nothing to do but picket a little when the yankees comes over I got a letter from home the other day they are all well as common & all so one from [faded] Millican She is well she spoke of getting a letter from you She said the folks are all well I wish to see / this dreadful war come to an end so the soldiers can go home & [faded] once did I have [faded, through paper fold] Joseph is dead he died last august at Petersburg [faded] on furlough and [faded] and died he had the mumps [faded] measles after he come [faded, paper fold] John is at home he got a discharge last august write what Regt Cosin James is in if / in service we lost [faded] men kild on the field 6 wounded in the last fight The wether is warm [faded] the time of year [faded and paper fold] I would like to see you all the best [faded] I must come to a close write soon giv my respects to all the connection & tel them to write to me excuse my badley writen letter write soon as you get this letter your Cosin until death                        Thomas W Story /
