Florilla S. Palmer to George S. Palmer, 29 July 1867
Cromwell Ct. July 29th 1867

My dear son George.
Yours of the 24th is just received; and, although I do not feel as if I could sit up, I must try to write to send out tomorrow.

I am very sorry to hear that you are so destitute of money, & sorry that you feel so discouraged. I hope your prospects will brighten before long. At any rate, it does no good to be despondent; do right, & hope for the best. You & Loomis are both in a bad state, in regard to others; and it is so much the more necessary that you should keep together, and try to assist each other. If you have both lost all, you must begin anew. I think Loomis, if he lives, will be in a / situation to pay you, sometime; but you know how he is situated, & that he can not at present. You must bear with each other: you are our only sons; & you must love as brothers, and bear as brothers. "Let no root of bitterness spring up to trouble you" It would distress us exceedingly to have you & Loomis have any difficulty Cherish the kindest feelings toward each other: & I trust the time will soon come, when you will be able to be united to the lady of your choice; & that you may be happy in each other, if you have not much of this worlds goods. I will send you five dollars, which is about all I have, & hope it will help you a little. I think your father will go to Middletown tomorrow to see Mr Hall. We did know how that matter stood before: but were / thinking you might have taken your papers, intending to get the money yourself.

Your Uncle George came here on Saturday. Tomorrow he goes to Staddle Vill: will be back here Wed. is going from here to Glastonbury Gilead &c. I am glad you have written to him. I had a letter from Maria last week, but have had none from Loomis for a long time I hope you will both write soon.
What is the prospect of another ticket enterprize?

Give my love to Loomis and Susie. It is so dark I cant see to write & must close.

Your loving Mother
F. S. Palmer
