Walker V. Personius to Unknown, 23 September 1863
Washington D.C
Sept 23rd 1863
I write but a few lines this morning as I am busy we move this afternoon at three oclock we start for head Quarters Army of the Potomac and shall march all the way. to day we shall go as far as Baileys Cross Roads three miles the other side of Long Bridge it will take about three days to go from there to Culpepper you may look for warm work in the / army of the Potomac I do not like this marching although I have a horse to ride.
you need not look for another letter from me until I fetch up for a day or two at one place as I shall shut up desk and not open until I am sure of at least 24 hours
I expect the part of my Company at Alexandria will join us across the river tomorrow if they have not already gone to the front
I close hoping this will find you all as well as it leaves Charley and myself
This from your
Captain
W. Personius
