Camp Cymons aug 13th 1862
Dear father and Mother Brother
and Sisters I now sit down to write you a few lines to let you know that we are all well at pressent and hope that these few lines may find you the same We are still in camp at harrisburg there is about 30,000 men incamped here now and there is more a comeing in every day we have not got got ben sworn in yet nor received our equipments yet but we expect to be sworn in to day we have had as mutch to eat as we wanted if we hant a nough we are allowed to go back and get some more we are all very well satisfied food they are all gay and hapy we can go out any time day or night we can hear them a hollering and singing all the time day and night
I dont want you to be a worring about me for I am as hapy as I ever was in my life. me and Henry and Danyel Naylor and Charles Morris bunk in one tent to gather the first night that we landed at harrisburg we bunked in the car house on to the soft side of a pine board the second night we laid in our tents in the dirt the third night we went down to the creek and got a small willow tree and and we have laid on it ever since I wrote you a few lines the other day and for got to put my name to it i was in such a hury give my best respects to all inquireing friends [line stricken out]
We have not received aney blankets yet but we expect to get them shortly I must now bring my letter to a close
Please write soon / and tell me all that is a going on at the Point the news has come that we are to be expected examined this after noon and then we will get our money for I haint but two dollars left and then we will wright to you and tell you when to come out and get our money and clothes they talk as if we would clear up the camp ground a gainst saturday night and pull for washington
