dear wife and children I take this opertunity to writer a few lines this morning before breakfast to let you now how I am and the rest the Regement left here last saterday about 4 oclock and marched about 18 or 20 miles up in to meriland to a place cald Rock vill will went with them and Henry was not well enough to march they left their tents and a few men to gard them and I staid here with them to gard and I have not bin over to washington since I came here on friday evening Saterday and Sunday I was sick with the head ake so that I could hardly see but am well now I have slep in the tents since I have bin here / last evening about sundown they got orders to strike tents and move so we went to work tore down and moved about a quarter of a mile and pild up all the nap sack tents & provisons &c in a heep and put up a tent for us a bout 11 oclock and bunked in for the night Henry is better this morning I will try and go to washing this morning and and perhaps I will go and see will a gain before I cum home I dont now a wether I will cum home be fore next week dont be uneasy a bout us ware all a doing tolerabel well here The are a happy lot of fellows a bout here plenty to eat and drink I have not seen the Rebbels yet and hird but one or 2 canon fired sinc I have bin here we dont now when they will / send for the tents & napsacks &c to follow the regement if they doe it soon I will go along and see the boys again before I leave I would like to see them again sinc I am here before I cum home dont werey a bout us and if you want any thing before I cum get it at the stores or where you please and tell Jo to feed the pigs and doe his work and take care of the cows and be a good boy
