Dear Father Mother Brother and Sisters
I take this pleasant opertunity of writing you a few lines to let you no that I am well and enjoying good health and I hope these few lines may find you enjoying the same state of health I received your letter last Friday and was very glad to hear from home once more Danyel Nailor received his box 2 or 3 days after it was started our boots and all the other things was all right my boots fit me firstrate but dans was to big for him so he sold them right away and sent home for annother pair he sold them for the same what they cost him
Our boys are all in very good sperrets for all the boys that we left back at camp with our napsacks came to the regt day before yesterday on friday and our napsacks also our napsacks were halled up and delt out to us on saturday my napsack was just as I left it and nothing spoilt our napsacks were all right except co Bs they were prety well ramsacked by the perroaled prisoners Henry Swartz bunks with us he is well and is a getting fat he says it haint the kind of living that they have had Their were good news came in to camp yesterday Our Captain told us that we have got winter quarters here but a good bit of duty to do but that is better than marching for we have got prety neer enough of marching
I am on gard to day and hant got time to write mutch
Nailor is out on picket
I must now bring my letter to a close give my best respects to all my friends

Dear Grand Pap I just write you a few lines to let you no that I hant forgot you if I am away from home gran pap I would a liked to a had you along with us on our march so that you could a seen some of the country and some of the hills and woods and cornfields that we went /

through and when night came we would take up lod going in some mans corn fields and then the first thing we would do would be to build tare down fences and build up fires and then pitch into the roasting ears their were some days that we had nothing to eat but corn apples and peaches but we could live fat on corn for their fields hant like yourn for their fields have from 40 to to 60 acres in I must now stop for it is prety neer time for me to go on gard
