Dear Father and Mother and Brother and Sister I again take my pensyl in hand to write you a few more lines to let you know that I am well and all of the rest of us and I hope these few lines may find you the same Last Saturday after noon we received our clothes and nap sacks and then we had to go to work to changeing our clothes the next morning we were marched down to harrisburg and there we received our guns and then we marched back to camp and commence to pack up our clothes for to take with us and to send home me and henry sent our togather henry sent coat pants and vest and shirt and hat and boots / and then we slung napsacks and marched for the cars and formed into a regiment and started for washington it was about 7 O clock when we started from harrisburg and we went all night and the next morning about 4 O clock we we arived at baltimore and then we got out and got our breakfast there and then we marched about 1 mile where we took the train for washington and wen we got there we got our dinners and started across the Potomac bridge which is about 1 mile long and then we marched on for our camp ground which is about 5 miles from the bridge it was prety warm and very dusty but we all / stood it very well and when we got to our camp ground we all covered with dust and then we slung napsacks and drew our coats and gave them a good shakeing and then we took our suppers out of our haversacks and then we laid down our blankets and cralled under them for the night for our tents had not come yet the next morning they come and we put them up and got boards and made a floor in it and we live as hapy as bees now we are within a bout a half mile of fort richerdson and we can see several others not far off we are within 3 miles of fairfax Court house we have not seen any fences since we have been / here we have not yet received our bounty and I am prety neer run short of money you talked something about comeing here and if you do come go and see Dory Morris he talks of comeing out to and if you get that pistol of bill warford for me for all the rest of them is a getting them and if you come i wish you would get me a indiarubber blanket in philadelphia this is all i have got to say at pressent
