Dear Father and Mother Brother and Sisters I take this opertunity to write you a few lines to let you no that we are all well at pressent and hope these few lines may find you the same I received my box yesterday a thursday and the things in it was all right I was very glad of the box the cakes tasted as natural as they ever did and the honey and faldwalders and crackers also tasted the same I received a letter from you last night and was glad to hear that you was well I was sory to hear that brads baby / was dead and burried the only child that they had I am very glad of the shirt you sent me and kindy also of hisen the box cost one dolar and Doan paid me the other dolar I received a letter from Johny Misson last wedensday and was very glad to hear from him I have not answered it yet but must to day or to morrow
we had a nice shower here last night but we laid in our tents as dry as a chip we hafto drill twice a day once in the fore noon 1 hour and and one hour in the after noon and then we get our suppers and get ready for dress peraid
Dear Father I was sory you did not send my boots / when you had such a good chance to send them with mr Doan But Dan Nailor has sent for a box and his boots and I told him to send and get mine too so I wish you would send mine with him when he sends his box
Father I would like you to see us here and see how fat ragged and sasy we are there is part of our boys that has body guards with them we call body guards but you would call them body lice they are so thick on some of them that we can see them a drilling in squads but they have not troubled me yet nor I dont want them to if I can help it
this is about all the news there is about here I believe at pressent so I believe I shall bring my letter to a close
