Campbell Hospital Feb 27th
Dear Parents your welcome letter of the 23rd has just been recd I was verry glad to get it my health is quite poor at present for over a week I have kept my bed I tell you what it is I have had a sick time of it evry day I have a chill right after it a high fever and so weak and poor that I hardly know myself as I look into my glass one of the boys got a letter from the Reg to day they notice the deaths of two more in Co D Owen Chapman he made the coffin for Henry S Geer and C W Brooks an old tent mate of mine at camp Chase also S R Bailey was but just alive Lieut Campbell is home on a furlough he lives in Portland I am glad that Father is getting better there has been two died in Ward 9 since I last wrote one had lung fever the other chronic diarrhea I must close Remember me to all give this song to Maggie Allison if she will accept of it you dont mention my likeness in your letter did you not get it Write soon
