Dear Parents                                      
shall I ever get this finished is the question the answer is yes you will pardon me for using your postage stamp I am sorry to do it but if you will keep an account of all I get I will pay you uncle Sam is going to take his time to pay us off I reckon the boys are all well as usual hoping to hear from you before long I remain your Affectionate Son George

tell the young Ladies that we do our cooking washing and ironing
as to Sundays we have to march
I have not heard our Chaplain but once he can drink as much as our Colonel or any other man we like our field and staff officers verry much all but the chaplain
this is the first letter I have
