Dear Parents                                                              
Once more at home I sit down to pen a few lines to you to let you know of my safe arrival here I got here on friday the boys were all glad to see me and so was I to see them found a good many had gone to their regiments or got discharged it seemed rather lonesome the first night but now I feel to home and would not take a furlough if I could get it again on Saturday friday I was taken with great pain in my fore fingers of my right hand and it swelled up and before the next morning it had got clear up to my shoulder and pained me a good deal so much so that I that I went right up to head quarters the doctor said that it was verry bad and if I did not look out I would lose my arm he orderd some powerful stuff to be put on it and cloths wet in sugar of lead to be changed evry fifteen minutes / I never was in such pain as I was in saturday and yesterday it seemd as if it would be a relief to have my arm off but it is a little better to day but I will have to take care of it Doctor says that he has amputated a good many arms that were just like mine if it improves as fast as it has done the last twelve hours it will be well before the week is out I hope whether I shall go to my regiment or not I cant tell we have a set of nurses and a new ward master while I was home so they will not need me here and if I am able I shall probaly go to my reg sometime I found a letter from Frank on my arrival here besides two others and a paper so you see that I had some thing to do to read them did Father get sick in that rain storm of thursday I felt afraid he would how is little bossie getting along I will draw to a close by wishing to be rememberd to all dont worry about me
