Washington Sept 30th 1863
Dear Parents
Your welcome letter of the 28th I have just recd and as I usually do hasten to answer it I am sorry to hear of your ill health also that Father is so unwell my health is not verry good I had a fainting turn some as I had while I was home on my furlough and yesterday I had a verry serious spell of bleeding at the nose so much so that I was verry weak I am troubled with a rush of blood to my head if I get the least excited as if I do any thing to get myself heated up so to day the doctor orders me to keep perfectly quiet the 12th Army Corps passed through here / on Saturday night Sunday and Monday to reinforce Rosecrans I did not see the 20th Conn as they went in a train before I got there I was sorry that I did not see them the 1st 5th 6th 11th and 12th are all orderd to join the army of the Cumberland so that it will leave the army of the Potomac without much of a force Loomis and Frank have both written to me C T Penfield has not written since I wrote I am surprised that my letters should find their way into public print I would like to see it if you can obtain one of the papers cut it out and send it in a letter there are quite a number of murders and highway robberies occuring here lately evry night a person is not safe even on Pennsylvania Avenue / which is the main street of this city. what kind of a family are those that move into the house seems to me I should hesitate some about letting the home under the circumstances of the Sage affair oh send the palladium by all means but I am writing too much for me but dont worry about me for I have as good a time and care when I am sick as I could get home for the doctors are here on the ground at a moments notice and I feel stronger this evning than I have for the last 24 hours and Dr has given me medicine that will stop my nose bleeding also rush of blood to the head hoping to hear soon I close with good wishes to all enquiring friends
From your Affect son
Geo S Palmer
To Mr and Mrs Palmer
