Dear Brother
Your verry welcome and somewhat short letter I recd this morning also one from Loomis his was a verry patriotic letter and we feel proud of him may his life be spard through this mighty rebelion I do not often hear from home you are the nearest by some hundreds of miles than any of the rest of the family why cant you write oftener than you do they have been fighting at the front for the last two days whether the 20th will get into it or not there have been a great many of Braggs men come into our lines the past few days one Company of 75 Tenneseans officers and all come in on friday last I hope to hear from home before long / on my way I called to see you at Cincinnati but you had gone to Pittsburg I am glad you escaped injury when the train smashed up and now I will close hoping to hear from you soon
