George S. Palmer to Francis K. Palmer, 20 April 1863
Campbell Hospital April 20th 1863

Dear Brother
once more I have the pleasure of writing to you in my old home for it seems like it to me while I was home it was call here and call there and the D—l of it was I had no real good visit with any one on thursday I left home and stopped at Newark over night arrived there at four PM friday and found all glad to see me I should have liked verry much to have made you a call before I came back but my time would not alow it but I trust that this war may soon terminate and that we may soon meet to trudge on as before we all are getting heartily sick of the war and I begin to think it is nothing more than a money making concern for some few officers who care no more for the goverment than Jeff Davis does I recd a picture of you while I was at home it is a verry good one I think also as soon as I got here I found a letter from / which was sent soon after I left we have quite a rain storm to day and it seems rather gloomy out but I have just finished a letter to father and mother one half of the sheet goes to you and the other to home hoping to hear from you before long

I Remain Your
Affectionate Brother
