Dear Brother
yours of the 6th came to hand and verry glad am I to hear from you it takes longer for longer a letter to come here than it does to go to any point North or West you I am glad that Chambers stopped at the office we miss him a good deal he is a fine chap but you may want to know how I am my health is slowly improving the doctor says if I take good care of myself that I will get along but if I take cold it will be up with me for awhile I guess that you never saw me as poor as I am now I have lost twenty five pounds in three weeks but I keep my clothes on through the day take a / nap of three hours during day time go to bed early rise at eight I have not been out doors yet but hope to before long I am glad to see that you have treated Loomis so liberaly I shall decline asking for any assistance till I reach my regiment which I hope will be before long and then if I want for anything I will let you know and indeed I dont know whether I shall be here by the time your letter gets here or be transfered some where else but you can write and run the risk but dont send any postage stamps for if I should leave ten chances to one if ever I get it you have heard from home since I have probaly and / may the time soon come when we may meet again
Write soon overlook all mistakes for they are many and I will close good bye till my next
