Dear Brother
You may wonder at not hearing from me but I have not heard from you yet since I wrote I have been quite sick and our Regiment has gone to the front so I was sent to this place if I am not going to get well right away I shall have to remain here some time but I hope soon to be able to join the 20th before long I have verry good care taken of me here for the first time in six months I have taken my pants off and slept in a good bed my food is verry good I can have oysters chicken eggs beef steak in fact anything I want. Henry Geer died and his remains were sent home I suppose I left last Sunday / Jerry felt bad when I bid him good bye and so did Charley Penfield I am afraid that they will have a fight before long I would like to be with them for they seem like brothers to me I must draw to a close by bidding you good bye my head aches quite hard write soon
