Dear Brother
Your welcome and long looked for letter has just been recd and I hasten to answer hoping it will find you as it leaves me in pretty good health I recd a letter from brother Loomis he is well and in pretty good spirits he wants me to send him some things but as I have no money I will just of you if you can let me have five dollars as it will cost something in the neighborhood of that and if you stand in need of anything if it is in my power if I have the money you shall have it but Dear Brother you know that I have to abide uncle Sams time if you can you will oblige both / your brothers according to report from the War Department I shall not stay here long but I have done my duty and the surgeon in charge has great confidence in me I believe from what he has told others there is not much news at present I recd a letter from home yesterday all well also one from lilley Baldwin Cousin Minie and Charles Penfield he is at Alexandria in the hospital hoping Dear Brother you will excuse my hasty note, and also hoping to hear from you immediately I will close with love from your Affectionate
