Tantallon Tenn March 15th
 
Dear Brother
                                    Your welcome letter of the 9th I have just recd and I hasten to answer it hoping that it will find you as it leaves me in good health and fine spirits we are having verry pleasant weather at present and our duty is not verry hard I hope you will try to see Loomis as soon as you can for he is liable to be called back into Virginia at any time then you will regret that you did not see him the 11th and 12th Corps I expect will soon be on their way to rejoin the Potomac army via Knoxville on to Richmond is the motto for the spring campaign of 1864 I have not heard from home in some time but they were well when I heard from them the Veterans / are returning from home from their furloughs and pretty soon the ball will be set in motion for this year our time is going on and soon we will be home now hoping to hear from you soon I will close
