Dear Brother
                                    Your welcome letter of the 22nd I have just recd it being the first I have recd in a month as I left the Campbell Hosptl the 5th of last month for Camp Convalescent Alexandria Va from there I joined a squad of the 11th and 12th Corps for our respective regiments I passed through Cincinnati on Friday Oct 23rd about 11 AM stopped at the Soldiers home on 3rd St till 3 PM had a verry good dinner I went to Cousins place of business on 4th St to see you (Loomis wrote that you were there) but they said you had gone to Pittsburgh I felt verry sorry for I wanted to see you before I joined my regiment but I hope to live to see father Mother Loomis and you we are at present doing provost duty here but expect to go to Chattanooga soon Jerry / Hubbard and Charley Penfield are both in the hospital the Company is much smaller than when I left it at fairfax we are in a regular mud hole for a camp I have had a verry bad diarhea for two weeks and feel quite weak but I trust that I shall get over it when you write give the Company and Regiment thus George S Palmer Co D 20th Con Vols 1st Division 12th Army Corps via Nashville Tennessee I will close with my good wishes to you from your Affect Brother
