Dear Brother
                                    Your welcome letter I have just recd containing the money and postage stamps I am verry much obliged to you for it stamps are an article that it verry hard to get down this way my health is good I am verry sorry to hear that you are so unwell Loomis is rather nearer you than he has been if reports are true I shall be a good deal farther from you than I am at present for Genl Burnside has applied for the 20th Conn and report says has got permission to join his expedition at Brooklyn N.Y. I dont credit it much but still it may be so I recd a letter from home yesterday Mother was writing to you at the time so you have heard Cromtown / news and now hoping to hear from you soon I will close
