Campbell Hospital Feb 19th
 
Dear Brother
                       your letter of the 15th I have just recd and I hasten to answer it as best but I am so nervous that I can hardly keep my pen in my hand I cant get much sleep nights and for the last week I have not eat a whole slice of bread and yet I am able to be up and around but what I live on it dont seem as if it would keep me I was down town the other day and had my picture taken I sent it home to Mother it shows my face off too full on account of my beard my cheeks are all sunk in to what they were two months ago I recd a letter from home part of it was written Mother and the rest by Father for the first time in seven months I have a few lines from Father now he has broke the ice I hope to hear from him again Mother recd your letter also one from Loomis at the same mail were verry glad to hear from their boys I have seen Perry also Jordan Buckinham was here last Sabbath / shook hands with him told him I belonged to 20th Conn old Govnor eye brightened up as he said that is the Buckinham Legion I think a good deal of the 20th I think he ought to it was him that give us our State flag I have been in the Capitol in the Senate and House also in the Smithsonian Institute since I wrote to you last if you ever come to Washington dont fail of seeing the latter place my name is down as one of the visitors at the Institute when I shall leave here I cant tell I have been here since the 18 of Jan hope to leave ere long I feel lonesome and want to get with the boys again do you like your new home in Pittsburgh as well as in Cincinnati hoping to hear from you soon I Remain Your Affect

I am verry much obliged to you in your offer to send me more money for the present I have money and stamps a feller let me have all I want for which he says he will wait three years I also have a dollars worth of stamps almost he is in the 20th Conn
