Anne Catherine Tayloe was born around 1834 in Virginia to George Taylor. Her father was a farmer who owned $145,000 of real estate and $210,000 of personal property by 1860. She grew up and attended school in Roanoke County, Virginia. She married John D. Langhorne around 1863, and they had at least five children: George, born around 1867; Maurice, born around 1870; Carey, born around 1873; Nannie, born around 1875; Alice, born around 1877. They lived in Lynchburg, Virginia, and her husband worked as a banker. By 1870, they owned $30,000 of real estate and $10,000 of personal property. They moved to Washington, D.C., around 1884. She died in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on August 25, 1909.
