My Dear wife
I arrived in N.Y. this morn went to 130 Grand St saw Mr Treat, calld at several other places. arrived at Newark between 2 & 3 O'clk found a line from Loomis desir'g to see me & wishing me to drop a letter in P.O. at Newark stating where I wld. be, which I accordingly did & appointed Mooris & Essex depot from 4 to 5 OClk. Have not seen him yet but expect to. He has been at Mr Treat's office N.Y. to day, is going to Stanhope /
Nothing has been done by Ballard in the Sage case. B. says Sage will swear & Gregg will swear for him so he knew there was no hurry about it & that I wld be on soon. What I shall do I dont know. shall not be in a hurry to sue Sage. Perhaps the matter can in some way be settled. If I was satisfied that Sage understood that I shd pay taxes on 1 mortgage I might have done it but I had about as well pay on the whole here & there as get into the law w him again. I will see about mort. on Grand St. & do what I can saw Mr Woodruff in N.Y. wants me to come to his house to night 5 OClk have not seen /

I wish you to send me the award render'd by the court at Middletown between me & Sage—also if you can find it the receipt in full given by Sage for money paid him on the award. I think you will find them filed among my papers. Send as soon as convenient, or you well can—
