Dr        Have just received last evening your letter of the 29^th inst which gladly received I do not know as I have anything of importance to write only that our muster rolls have been accepted at the war department and we are shure of our pay this week. I shall send at least twenty (20) dollars which I shall send by Adams Express or a draft on a New York banking house think the former the best and safest way. if you can amongst you raise the nessarry fund I will have the cash there by Friday or Saturday next. we moved our camp on last Thursday to three miles north of our first encampment and is much better situated being on the heights over looking Washington, Georgetown, Alexandria, Fairfax Court House in the distance and Arlington Heights opposite. the Companies adjoining us are 36^th Reg N.Y. Anderson Zouaves Wisconsin Zouaves two Mass. Regts. 2 Vt. Regts. 1 Maine Reg. Pennsylvania Brigade and the Ohio Reg^ts all within a mile of us. also 2 Comp^s Artillery so you see that we are well guarded. Am well much better than when I last wrote. I hope that you will sooner or later remove into the country. Love to all—

 

write soon and keep account of the no of postage stamps you send me as I mean to pay for every one of them I was glad to receive those two as I wished to write / to Alf Bergen. if you have any when you write send along.

P.S.      Kelley and Vincent wish Geo to go their homes and tell their folks where and they are also that they cannot write home till they have money or stamps. Could you not send a 5 or 10 cent piece in your letter for if we get paid in gold we will have not pocket money. L
