Loomis T. Palmer to Francis K. Palmer, 27 March 1864
Johnsons Island. O.
Mar 27th 64
Dear Brother.
I have waited patiently for your visit but have been disappointed. I do so wish you would come for I do not think we will remain here long, perhaps not another week. Can't you come this week, do try. you may think that I am very harsh, or perhaps asking too much from you if so please excuse me, as my only excuse is, my anxiety to see you. We will probally get paid this week & you had better come on as soon as you can leave conveniently. Now do let me see you this week. will you not / come expecting to stay two or three days & perhaps a week. As soon as you get into Sandusky you will find the boat that runs to the Island, at the foot of Columbus Av. Now I shall look anxiously for you & I hope I may see you can it not be so. if you are unwell a little fresh air from the lake will not hurt you.
We attended a funeral yesterday. Our 2d Sargt died of fever the day before. he was sent home last night, the Orderly 3d & 4th Sargts & Thomas Kinsey escorting the body to Sandusky Now ere closing let me again again beseech you to hurry your visit to the Island for we know not how long we remain here. I am / that we will leave here next week, but I hope not untill I once more see my Dear Brother. am I to be disappointed Frank?
