Washington, D.C.
June 3d 1865.

Dear Parents
Your kind welcome favor of the 30th May was recd last evening. I am very happy to hear of your continued health, also that brother George would return shortly. I would like to see George here, but cannot get to the camp of 20th Corps for several days & expect that he is on his way home ere this.

This Corps was not presant at the Grand Review on account of our services being required at Danville & along the R.R. We reached / here last evening after a laborious march of over two hundred & fifty miles. Will be reviewed on Tuesday next (6th inst) when troops will be sent home. We have just recd orders that Veterans will also be discharged as the war is at a close & peace established

Will probally be home by the 1st July.

We are now very busy preparing for the Review

please excuse brevity &c

Your loving Son
