Dear Brother
I little thought when you visited me, so long a time would elapse ere we communicated with each other through the silent medium of "pen".

Why haven't you written. Surely your time has not been so occupied as to leave your loving brother no place in your thoughts. Nay, but let me / hear from you. I suppose you are 'ere this paid off & enjoying the life of a civilian. Such a life I have coveted for a long time. At last our best wishes are to be given us. We are now engaged in making out our "Muster Out Rolls". I will be mustered out as soon as they can go forward & be approved of. Will probally arrive in N.Y. between the 20 & 25th inst & then be sent to Harts Isld for payment. 6 months pay & 140 Bounty, of this I owe some will have enough to get me two suits of clothes &c. & have over enough to play the agreeable. I wish you would have our parents remove from Cromwell & obtain some little place for them, so that their declining years may be their happiest. We / have the opportunity now of making some remuneration for the many years we were but dead weight. let us never look back upon our past, & see dark places of parental neglect. No, we ought to help them. it is required of us so to do & not only that but our own will would have us so do.

Have you been to Newark yet & if so have you seen J.W.K.

Oh. Geo. can you fill a small requisition I shall make on your treasury? for in all probability the Regt will have to remain a week or two on the Island ere being paid off. I will make it all right. I only want enough to get me a coat ere seeing some of my friends / Dont send any to me, but be in N.Y. when we arrive can't you. if you have not visited Newark yet dont untill I arrive. postpone your visit for the present.

Has Maggie left New London yet? Write me immediately & don't stint in paper but write a long letter. I hope ere this our Dear Parents are much better than when Mother wrote.

Give my love to them.

Accept kind wishes for your welfare & prosperity

ever your loving brother,
Loomis T. Palmer
