Dear Mother
I finished a good long letter to you last night but I have to get up to roll call so I can put a few lines more you must not worry if you do not hear from me quite so often I caught quite a cold yesterday on picket have a sore throat to pay pay for it but shall not give in to it Wm Stickney went to the hospital Sherman Paddock is not verry well all the rest are about as usual we have very cold weather seems as if could never feel warm again Robert Allison is first rate as all the other boys Charlie Penfield has a lame leg just now there has been ten deaths in the 20th since leaving NH /
