Dear Parents
                        I have just recd your letter and hasten to answer it I am some better although I have not got much appetite I think I can say that I am considerable better but I hardly think I can get my discharge you made no mention of the check in your letter did you get it I recd a letter from Charley Penfield he states that the boys are well Jerry is fat as a pig Wm Adams has written to me he saw Loomis he was well dont you remember Samuel Sutton the one that use to go with Jack Charles I saw him the other day he came up from private to Captain in the 8th New Jersey / he resigned last thursday the 8th NJ are at Warrenton there is something going on more than common the artillery and infantry are marching up 14th Street same as they did before the battle of Gettysburg they are sending troops from here to Charleston and conscrips are coming in quite fast make it quite busy it is dark and I must close my regards to all enquiring friends
