Dear Parents
                        Your verry welcome letter of the 19th has just been recd and I hasten to answer it my health is pretty good for me I should think you was quite a business woman from the business you have done we are all excitement this afternoon the rebels in Baltimore is the news this evng but I dont believe it yet but I cant believe it but it may be so for the poor Generalship of Joe Hooker might account for it I like to see people stir themselves whether friend or foe I should think the cows were doing first rate and father also is doing well from what you write the boys are doing well I will close as I am in a hurry
