Dear Parents
I have a chance to write a few lines as we have a chance to send a letter to our friends the enemy after fighting for the last two weeks has retreated to a better place where he can trap the Yankees our Corps has lost heavier than all the others put together we are still with the ammunition train how long we shall stop with it is more than we know of I recd your letters of the 18th and June 1st yesterday by which I was verry glad to hear of Ls safety I had the / pleasure of seeing a rebel paper the Atlanta Confedracy in which it said that Joe Hooker was killed at Cassville and in their hands and the 20th Army Corps was annihilated thank fortune neither were true our Corps is a terror to the rebels of Georgia I suppose that there will be some tall fighting as we come near Atlanta they have a heavy force in front of us but may success go with us the boys from Cromwell are all well I will give you an account of my outfit no socks or drawers 2 shirts one pair of patched pants an old pair of shoes one ruber blanket one towel consists of my whole wardrobe I want some envelopes and stamps or I / cant write I have dropped all correspondence with my friends untill this campaign is over hoping this may find you well I will close with love
