Dear Parents
Not having heard from you in a good while I will write a few lines to let you know that that I am well and hope that this will find you well I have fared pretty well during the holidays Christmas we a goose and five hens for our squad and since then I have been guarding houses and got my meals the 20th is under marching orders already five Companies have left and the rest are to follow as soon as relieved by the 102nd N.Y. Penfield is well so are the rest Ed Black was here to day he said that his mother had company from Cromwell thanksgiving hoping to hear from you soon I will close direct as before the letters will follow the reg love to all from your affect son
