Dear Parents
your welcome and long looked for letter has come at last I have omited writing on account of your not writing to me you know that it has been my habit to answer a letter as soon as I get it and not having heard from you for two weeks or more you may think that I began to feel anxious I should have written to day any how I will in the future try to have a letter get to you once a week Loomis has sent me a letter also Jessy and C T Penfield they were well when they / wrote Frank has written also Lewis Manderscheid of Newark the folks there were well so you see that my correspondence was rather large I have not answerd Lewis yet but shall soon I have a good deal to do at present my health is pretty good for me we have news of Genl Grants death (from rebel sources) hope it is not so we have verry cool weather for the last few days there is no news of any account the wounded are getting along pretty well hoping to hear from you soon I will close you will get this monday good bye and dont worry about me
